Hey!

My bad, I've been ill and off the bike and all sorts. Somebody might read this and say " Whatever Man!" and good on them for passing comment.

Things go weird in your life and what are you left with? Your ability to adapt and look for opportunity. Either that or you're flattened by the inexorable progress of mediocrity.

So if you have your hand under the hot tap and you're not comfy with the whole pain thing what do you do? Pull the thing out that's what. So why do we hang in places that give us pain? Are the fekkers causing us the grief going to magically change? Not so much.

Today I was recovering from last night's ride. I had the choice to put myself under pressure or just roll the legs and work the lactic out. I chose B. Harder to do but better in the long run.

I left my partner of seven years. I looked after her while she was ill and when she was better I left. She had a party where she invited all the people who helped. No invitation. Don't ask me why I left.

Down stairs the bikes are hanging, waiting.

Form

Form is such a transient thing. 1 month ago smashed the pb for the 20K ITT. Today? Not so much. Legs felt like porridge and the air like molasses. Down 1 min 30 seconds! No St Johann on that form Bill.

Never mind. What a magnificnent autumn morning to be humbled by the road.

No surprises in the HRM log of the race of course. Heart rate up and down like a yo-yo.

"Leave your mind at the start, Grasshopper".

Tomorrow? Back on the weights and off the beer and to hell with work I'm going riding.

If statements

So last night's ride was good, I felt better than the last few weeks. Big turn through Taroona and back through Sandy Bay. The Phantom sitting in the shadows takes the Casino sprint but I took the Lord St hill back.

Today is St. Georges Day and I was thinking my dad because the 23rd was his birthday and about circumstance and how so many people spend their time thinking about the "I" in "If".

It's too short people - if is what has lead us to history's greatest self-enabled cataclysms.

Up early tomorrow and do some bells before riding to work. It's supposed to rain but whatever.

Lead out

Of course leading out is probably the most tricky part of not winning bike races. Too hard and the Phantom doesn't get around you and too easy and some other guy has the champers.

I like though to make it hard for the Phantom - after all he can only get better! As a team however, we're not winning bike races. Usually he's stuffed from chasing me down...

Something a Super Domestique needs to work on I guess. Oh well, at least he's getting fitter!
